| Savegame howto |
|
By transferring savegames between your desktop and iPhone/iPod touch it's possible to play a game at home
and continue the very same game later in the train, park, bar, etc. without the need of playing the same
game twice.
Note: Of course you can save your games manually in ScummVM, but ScummVM already does that automatically for you. You can configure
this in the options, but if you just start, you don't have to change anything there.

Transferring safegames works exactly like downloading game data files, so you need a well configured FTP server (or File Sharing access in MacOS X).
Additionally you have to make sure that your FTP user has enough rights to write files to the server in case you want to backup your safegames. |
|
| |
After starting the FileManager, go to the 'Savegames' tab. If you have already some savegames on your device, they will be
listed there. Is this the case and you want to upload one of those to your FTP server, simply tap the savegame entry and an uploader
will appear. Go to Step 3a.
If you want to download a safegame from your FTP to your device, tap the 'Edit' button on the upper left and then the line stating
'Download from FTP'. Go to Step 3b. |
|
| |
In the Uploader you first have to tap the 'Choose destination..' button
to select the directoy on the FTP server where the savegame shall get uploaded to. To select the directory you follow basically
the same steps as in step 4 of Setting up a game. Only you select the directory with the
green up-arrow on the left instead of a down-arrow.
Tap 'Start upload' and you're done. |
|
| |
The downloader works basically like in steps 3, 4 and 5 of Setting up a game. But now you
don't select a complete directory but only one file which shall be downloaded to the device.
After tapping 'Start download' you're done. |
|
| |
Back in ScummVM you can load such a savegame by selecting 'Load' which brings up the safegame browser. There you just highlight
the safegame and select 'Load' again. |
