This little FAQ is just meant as a starting point. If you can't find the answer to your question here, please visit
the FAQ, wiki and forum on the official ScummVM website or if
even that doesn't help or you encountered any bug or have a feature request or general question you may of course also
contact us via the contact formular.

Yes, that is on purpose because on the iPhone/iPod touch we are fairly restricted to the usage of
the filesystem. Thus we decided that it would be best to simply set reasonable and unchangeable defaults. |

First, this ScummVM port doesn't necessarily include all the engines your other port may include, but it
includes the most common. Second, some games might simply not work that well on an iPhone. Check the official
ScummVM iPhone forum for a compatibility list. |

This may happen for several reasons. For example, ScummVM expects a certain file and can't find it.
For such cases ScummVM writes a logfile everytime it runs. You can view and upload it to a FTP in the
FileManager on the 'ScummVM log' tab. |

While the actual game data should be preserved if you update ScummVM, it's like that its internal
application identifier - and thus it's path on the iPhone/iPod touch filesystem - changes. In that case
ScummVM can't find the game data anymore because they point to the old path. At the moment you have to
remove the games from the ScummVM list (NOT the game data in the FileManager!) and add the games again
to ScummVM. A better solution to this is on our todo list for one of the next updates. |

Because there are better resources to find an answer! The official ScummVM website has
a very good FAQ, Wiki and Forum were you will most likely find an answer to your question. |

You can download our diffs against the GPL parts here.
Note that the Launcher, FileManager and First Aid parts are proprietary software, copyright (c) 2009 Stackswap, Costel Mincea
and neither free software nor under the GPL. So you won't find any source for them. (Which may change in future though)

You actually don't have to pay for it. You can always grep the source of ScummVM from the official ScummVM website,
apply our diffs and build your own version! Of course, as Launcher, FileManager and First Aid aren't subject to the GPL
you'd have to code your own solution for them.
What you pay for if you buy our ScummVM package via the App Store is the complete package and the effort we put into it to get a nice, easy to use
solution for owners of non-jailbroken iPhones and iPod touch. Additionally your payments will ensure that we will do further development on this
solution which in turn means that the ScummVM project will also benefit from the code contributions we make.
So bottom line: We see it as a win-win-win situation.. We win, because we're getting paid for our work. The ScummVM project wins, because we're
of course contributing our changes to the GPL code. And finally YOU win, because you get a nifty all-in-one solution to play all the all-time
classsics on your iPhone and iPod touch without the risk of making a brick out of it (because of failing jailbraking) for a fairly reasonable
price.
So what are you waiting for? Get it on the App Store! ;-) |
